We believe in expanding music beyond the classroom. RSMS choirs travel annually to seek performance and workshop opportunities to learn from experts in the field. Choirs have recorded in Studio B in Nashville, TN as well as Sun Records in Memphis, TN. On past trips students have enjoyed master classes with the Preservation Hall Jazz Hall Band in New Orleans, and the Army TRADOC band in Norfolk. Students participated in the Disney Sings workshop at Walt Disney World, attended performances by the Atlanta Opera, and enjoyed Young People’s Concerts by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The choral department also provides opportunities for students to learn through master classes by visiting guest artists, including mezzo-sopranos Jamie Barton and Johanna Nordhorn, and visiting college choirs including Westminster Choir College and Reinhardt University’s Men of Hardt.
